I had the opportunity to give the Programming Hub app a complete makeover. This included creation of a new app icon, new images for languages on the home screen of the app and converting the entire app from Holo to Material Design.
In summary i had to covert the app from looking like the image on the left to the image on the right.
I had made a simple icon for Programming Hub long before this new icon back when it just a Java languages app. It was quite dull and flat. So they wanted this new to be more eye candy. Most apps in the education category have a pictorial logo which is trapped inside a square, rectangle or a circle. While creating a new icon for this app I followed the same trend and created a logo trapped inside a rounded rectangle and a logo inside a circle. It looked good but I wasn't happy with it.
So i took my sketchbook, used multiple hexagons and came up the butterfly logo where the wings represented different programming languages and the phone represents portability thereby giving the idea of the product "Programming Hub".
It makes the app stand out among the others in the play store. It screams for attention thereby attracting more users to install the app.
For the languages i wanted to capture some key aspects from their original logos/icons but not copy it entirely, to give a sense of familiarity to the app users.
Since it is an Educational app i thought of having the app a serious and straight-forward color like White & Grey. But i made the app too dull and it quite didn't go along the lines of colors of the App Icon.
So i created several mock-ups of the home screen with different material design colors and had them to choose the one they liked so that i can work on the rest of the screens. So the color Blue from the Material Design Color Spec.
I was working on some illustrations for a video about NASA. It contained a long scene about the NASA's Apollo missions which contained the astronauts from the Apollo 11 mission.
So i vector traced the real portraits of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin and made digitally illustrated Quote portrait of them.
Unfortunately, due to some scheduling reasons the video is on hold currently, and i didn't wanted to leave this complex illustration to be of no use till then.
Therefore, i decided to release them as a free wallpaper which you can download here.
AnimeAnalyst aka Don is gaming YouTube channel, leaning mostly towards the anime side of gameplays and other anime related quality content. Don wanted a new intro for his channel, so as per the process i asked him about his channel and also asked him about what vibe should his intro have. And therefore, the intro is the result of hyper-active and dynamic nature of the channel created using glitches and sweet anime explosions.
He also asked me to create a new logo, which should be minimal yet an eye-magnet. So to fit the logo with the complex intro i had to stick with basic shapes without any overlaps. I started out with a square and using masking i cut out the parts i didn't to make the letter "A". After 14-15 trials and drafts i finally came up with a minimalistic logo.
Francesco Sgnaolin aka Sgnoogle is a tech YouTuber who provides quality reviews of latest devices, mainly leaning towards the world Google and Android related stuffs.
He is really fond of Google's Material Design concept and hence wanted the same to be implemented in his intro. The intro follows the footsteps of the Google Now feature on Android where you tap the home button to bring up the Google App, along with the movable material design cards-as seen in the early promotional videos of Material Design.
Funk is a gaming YouTube channel and i was contacted by them for a channel logo, an intro and outro. They wanted the theme and colors to be retro but it should also give the feeling of modern design. So i came up with a retro hipster style design for the logo.
The intro and outro also follows the same retro hipster design path, the retro music also adds up to the vibe.
The intro and outro were made in After Effects. Building the intro required me to cut down the logo into different layers so that they can be individually animated in After Effects.
Just a cute anime school girl i drew long time back. When i started drawing this i pictured it to have a strait to the camera look, but somehow it ended up having a top view look which i liked more than what i wanted it to be.
It's not perfect as i spent very less time on it, but i thought of adding it to the portfolio anyway so that you can get an idea of what the early stages of my sketches/drawings look like.
PS: Sorry for the potato quality image, i had a really old phone that time.
Saurik Development now known as Psyche Gamelab, is a Machinima partnered game development studio. I was contacted by Psyche to create a intro for their YouTube channel.
I had to capture their gaming studio brand style and ethos for this intro. So after a few exchange of emails i got the idea about their energetic and vibrant culture - which has been reflected in the intro. Of course, the awesome music lifts up the energy of the intro to another level.
Almasons is a consultancy company headquartered in Massachusetts, specializing in the areas of Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Management and Transportation Management. I was approached by them to work on a new design for their existing website.
So i started off with a base template for the design which was quite elegant and minimal - which perfectly suited the genre of the brand. I created a mock-up and it was approved following which i started documenting the website components, widgets and modules, so that they can customize it by themselves with ease - as it was a static site and the data had to be updated manually with hard coding. Which wasn't an issue because they were an experience developers themselves and also support was provided in case of any difficulties.
Previously the didn't had any site for mobile so i had to take care that the base template chosen must be responsive so that the website can adapt to an appropriate layout based on the type of device it is viewed in.
They also required some illustrations/images for their home page carousel to highlight the services they provide. The illustrations shown above are the one i did for them however they didn't make it up to the final stage and it was replace by royalty free warehouse images.
ToastedShoes is a gaming channel on YouTube which is more on the funnier side rather than just game-plays.
He approached me for an channel logo, channel art/banner a logo and a channel mascot/character which was needed to be animated in the channel intro and outro.
The logo is a wordmark and was made with photoshop. The character was made with illustrator. The hands, legs and eyes were put on a separate layer to so that they can be animated easily.
The intro and outro were made in After Effects with some extra elements such as the scenery backdrop and moving clouds for the intro and the video holder and the speech bubble for the outro.
While working on a video which explains why our Sun can never become a black hole, i worked on this illustration which is based on a scene from the movie Interstellar where Cooper detaches it's Ranger ship from the Lander and falls into the black hole named Gargantua.
This illustration is meant to be just more than just an animated scene from a video and therefore i posted it as a free wallpaper which you can get it here.
Being a fan of the 4 misfit yet really lovable geniuses from The Big Bang Theory, i wanted to create a digital illustrated version of them.
Didn't wish to make them look realistic but i didn't wanted to takeaway the qualities that reflected their personalities either.
So i decided to play with their heights and face-cuts and was quite happy with the results. Took inspiration from their real outfit designs which help it to bring out some distinctiveness between them.
Nexus aka Brad contacted me for an intro. This time i took some inspiration from a fellow designer and animator on YouTube named Epsilon.
The term Nexus means a connection or series of connections linking two or more things. Seriously, Google it! Imma, not joking. So to manifest the meaning of Nexus into the Intro, so started out with the concept of geometric shapes(which i like and obviously because geometric shapes are the most trivial thing that can use the concept of connection).
I saw some interesting thing going on between some shapes and paths in one of Epsilon's work, i took those shapes as the base and used some of them in this intro as well, also added some extra animated shapes of my own which happen sequentially, finally revealing the logo.
